  • I love the smell of baking in the oven, it is like a prologue of an day well spent. I wonder how many spices are intricate in the kitchen cabinets, on the tapestries and books in the library and how they attenuate over the years, how they change upon generations and take another scent more in tone with the legatee of those rooms. My favorite redolences are perfectly positioned between my everyday apartment and the farm upstate. One has all the warm comfort of lazy nights cuddled in by the sofa, coffee and chestnut cakes with a whisk of creme fraiche. The other, holds the freshness of rosemary and orange, of wet grass and linen garments. Late nights playing bridge and literature by the fire. One couldn’t be more perfect than the other.   • There are so many corners in my life. As an art director, as a photographer and one I particularly love that you can find here: as a visual storyteller. This is the ultimate expression of me. The dreamer, the pensive demeanor, the catcher of moments and the appreciator of candure. And I love coming here and scroll all that I’ve lived and loved like a book filled with scribbling notes on aside and photos hanging on rusty paperclips. I love it all. Even the not so favorable captions or the dullest of captures.   • I took the shortest path back to the house, past the bridge and the neighbours pasture, avoiding at all costs the judgmental gaze of the village parsonage. The rain kept falling impiously in my knitted cardigan, drops keep tumbling faster from the tips of my eyelids, making altogether difficult to adjust that secular cobbled lane on my passage. Looking at it now, I shouldn’t have neglected the warning signs of the sky, the admonitions of loved ones, but alas I lack the fortitude of staying lifeless. I’ll be forever caught in the wistfulness of the wilding forest. On my return, orchards of apples are slowly stripping of its flora, the shepherd rounds hastily his flock in the shed and the fowl complains of the drenched look of the coop where they gathered. At the farm the chimneys are finally lit revealing puff clouds of oak wood burned in the fire. And as entered the garden I still recoil, taking shelter beneath the persimmon foliage, that is yet to be ripen and harvested, to admire this provincial candid moment. As a result, I’m headed to bed, with an endless set of sneezing and cougher.   • Today, there is no way a melancholic gloominess could reach this capture. For today it is a good day. You see, notwithstanding it never seemed likely to me that chance would bawl me with favourable circumstances, I am standing on this edge, overlooking my narrative and comprehending that perhaps, just perhaps, life is smiling at me in the most auspicious way. Pardon my scepticism, it is unbecoming of me to see it that way, particularly considering I’ve always been an optimistic and idealist at heart. But those dreams you see from afar, in blurry slopes and undefined pastures are today just tenuously more clear.   • The sun sat distant and the clouds matched the bright colors of that firmament. A halo of sea foam reached the meadow in front of this window in a blazing aura brimmed with a thousand birds chirping. The fire is lit, the tea gets cold, and that’s ok, because I’m home. Far away from where I was born, in a house not even my own, but still.   • A promenade of trees, that’s how I saw it. The hem of my dress, sluggishly moved between the boulders and rusty leafs to that shore. There, the river stream forged small cascades, branches pended gangly on the mossy borders and the quietness was a stroke I didn’t foresee before this venture. We laid our towels and blankets, displayed the baskets, the nuts and the grape clusters. Pour the spicy cider and got warm and comfortable in each others stories. With my head in his lap, I saw how the tree petals fell down dancing to the rhythm of his laughter. And that was the kind of moment that inspires writers and great poems.
