  • Meet me on the end of that road. Over the fallen leaves and where a dome of light can be seen from above. I promise, it is worth it. Don’t expect an immensity of mountains, a perfect line of meadows on end or a silver lake that still, makes you see in doubles. Nothing of alike. Maybe you’ll even see some plainness in it, an ordinary mixture of emerald and sage percase. Trust me, you’d have to stand very still to see the dance between butterflies and bumblebees, the delicate heather that to the minimal gust joins that endearing spectacle.   • My thoughts linger on those puff white clouds. They see shapes and figures that have remain unchanged since childhood. The wild wind blows and shows a rabbit diving into a hole, a peak of mountain or a flight of a dove. Thoughts in the clouds are like dreams, and dreams are like hope wearing a body of someone who believes deeply in it so. I am forever the former. But also the wandering latter.   • On the last slice of that kings cake - a delicacy specially enjoyed on the 6th of January here in Portugal, that coincides with the end of the festivities - I took a good look around my living room. How the tree stands tall and fills that odd corner. How the wreaths hang perfectly in the wall, and the cat wraps itself over that basket with mistletoe and holly. It is to be the last Christmas in this house, since we are on the verge of moving to a new place. It is a mixture of longing and excitement, for all that is yet to come and all that remains in those cranked planks of wood on the floor. I’m supposed to start wrapping it all, as tradition dictates, the decorations, the candle holders.   • I’ve been living on a eccentric world. Days melting into each other without notice, nights appearing suddenly on the horizon and me, composedly watching it from a comfy chair.   • As I style the new years table, display the candles, the seafood plate and the cristal chalices that will be filled with champagne at the ring of midnight, I review my last year. Everything moves faster when you are having fun, they say, and I cannot aquiesce with more spirit than I do today. I’ve visited new places, challenged myself deeper. I dared to dream big and found comfort in the smallest and ordinary. I embraced family, relished old friends and treasured new found ones. I did it all, with an open heart, never fading, always appreciating and percolating every minute that is this joy of living. It is fitting, I guess, that the last photo of this year, should be taken by another - the incredibly talented Sina @liveitspoetry - in my ambience, where I am most happy, sharing a table and stories with others.
